Plantation with celebration at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya
Paryavaran Mitra organized an extensive plantation drive at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Guraiya Soyalpur on 18th July 2006 in which more than four thousand five hundred plants of different varieties were planted. This was part of the basic objectives of Paryavaran Mitra ie protection and conservation of environment.
Chair person Paryavaran Mitra Smt. Kiran Bajaj was personally present in the programme. The drive wsa inaugurated by plantation of a tree by Smt. Kiran Bajaj followed by intensive plantation by hundreds of students of the school in the entire campus premise. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya also set up a ‘Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van’ with in the campus with the objective of encouraging tree plantation drive. This park was inaugurated by Smt. Kiran Bajaj. Numbers of the local community, students and teacher of the school also took oath to conserve environment.
Addressing the gathering Smt. Kiran Bajaj make a call to the people to respect trees and plants in the manner temples and gods revered. The expressed her concerns regarding increasing social and psychological pollution along with environmental pollution and requested that everyone should come forward to check these malaises this responsibility begins first with parents and teachers of the society.
Addressing the concerned gathering, Smt. Kiran Bajaj said that conservation of tress and plants had always been a plant of our religion; cultural tradition but in our times people have not only forgotten these values but there is lack of ever common minimum sensibilities. Gradually diminishing concern for issues of social and environmental importance particularly among younger generation is a serious issues and there is a need for devising strategies for attracting youth towards these issues.
Smt. Kiran Bajaj encouraged students to participate in activities which strengthen and enhance national unity, human values, cultural ethoo and ecosphere of our society. Cleanliness is a essential component of all this.
SDM Shikohabad Sri Ram Autar Raman, presiding over the function expressed his happiness over performance and participation of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in sports and other social activities along with education excellence. He also appreciated students for their participation in moves for environment protection. Sri Raman also appreciated and expressed his gratitude towards Smt. Kiran Baja for her social and environmental atheism.
Attractive cultural programme by the student turned the event in to a celebration. “Kajari”, “Sawan” Songs and Telgu Dance performance by girls amidst drizzling rain enthralled everyone present there. A friendly table tennis match between Smt. Kiran Bajaj and SDM Sri Ram Autar Raman was an important event in which smt. Kiran Bajaj won 11-3. Principal of the school Sri Banwari Lal Yadav and Vice Principal Dr. K.K. Tripathi made noteworthy contribution by giving the programme the shape of a cultural festival.
